UNO MAS!!!

...is what I say whenever a session is winding down. If your a skateboarder that loves to learn new tricks, you know what I'm talkin about. Your also probably a perfectionist and can't settle for a sketchy landing where you tick tack out or highfive the pavement. That is, unless you've been trying to land that peticular trick for hour or so. I've also noticed that the longer it takes me to roll away from something, the more I talk to myself out loud. Things like "Aight here we go" or "u got this" start to turn into "the fuck is wrong with you?" and "Stop bein a pussy and commit to this shit!!!" If im lucky, I will eventually commit to that shit, land it, roll away, and feel a sence of accomplishment that far surpasses anything that I've ever felt before, especially if the trick is something that I've never landed and beat the shit out of me in the process. That feeling of working so hard at something and finally having it pay off is so addicting. I cant stop. I love it. So much. It is my life.

Soooooo heeere we go again. More art, skateboarding, and music.

To start things off, I got some mo' boards i dot. My buddy Antheny is a huge fan of the Boondock Saints and he asked me if I could dot them on his board. I said chea, but was a little intimidated to try to depict faces. I guess I was just a little nervous that it wouldn't turn out that well. So, to warm up and get some practice in, I thought it would be cool if I pointillized the members of the Wu-tang Clan. So far, I've made two.
RZA
Ol' Dirty Bastard

Figured that was enough to get started....
Antheny was stoked.
He's actually letting me ride it currently because my boards broken, I'm broke, and my board sponsor isn't returning my calls. Rad. I might be back shop-deckin' it here pretty soon. Sad face emoticon.

A couple of weeks ago, I walked into my work and my coworker Rayan asked me "Have you ever seen a Slow Loris?" which I responded "uhhhhhhhhhhh no?" So he pulled up this video...

...and said "If you dot this on a deck, I'll pay you for it." So i did. This is how it turned out.

Aaaaaand I just found out that Thrasher's running a "GRIPTAPE ART" contest that I'm gonna enter in. Wish me luck!!! Hopefully I'll do well.

So in my last blog that I posted, I shared some photos of a freelance gig that I got modeling a potential skatepark in the Teen Center of my work, the Mukilteo YMCA. It got a great review by my supervisors, and after many emails back and forth, we came up with a final version.

Now this project is being surveyed and reviewed by the community and hopefully this will get made sometime soon, after it is approved by the city. What excellent practice for getting a roof over the actual skatepark!!! I can't wait till we accomplish that.

I think that's about it for now in the art department. Next up, SKATEBOARDING. I gots a Nomadic Ad and a couple of vids of me goofin off on a skateboard so chickadee check it oot.

This spots right down the street from Marginal Way skatepark. Here's Jordan gettin down on the same spot on the same night with a nosepicker. A big thanks to DANIEL HAGER for shootin this and PAUL BOND for filming. I love goin out and gettin photos then collecting the photos and making ads out them. It's SO FUN. I lub it.

So in my last post, I talked about how I had a whole bunch of fun at a Black Market contest at Seattle Center skatepark. About a week ago my buddy Chris "Deadbeat Panda" Huynh put out an awesome video of the event. He did a rad job putting this one together. The songs filthy too. I got in a few tricks towards the end there.

He also finally put together a short vid of the REDBULL RIVALS contest that I got a couple of tricks in. It was Seattle vs Portland for a cement truck and SEATTLE WON!!!!

Chris shot some photos from this event too.

Me fakie stail tuckee. I ate shit on one of these sooooooo bad.
HELL YES.

Another clip came out just recently that I got a few tricks in by north end legend Shane "Sk8rat" Auckland. This guy made a video of most of the skateparks in Snohomish County that ended with a little Mukilteo Wildness. I got a few tricks in along with my coworkers George, Kristin, Jimmy, and Mike. I love skating with those guys. and gal. Always a great time.

Usually, every blog that I post has new skating vids/photos, new art that I've made, and a new song that I've composed, but this time around imma haveta post an older track. I totally thought that the most recent song that I've made, "Traditional Medicinals", wasn't posted yet but it turns out I posted it in my last blog. SOOOOOOOO here's a song I made last November. I sampled my dulcimer!!!

I'm also VERY HYPED on this video of Flying Lotus that I saw on Late Night with Carson Daily.
So Awesome. Really inspirational. And amazing.
Don't know about Flying Lotus? Peep.

So goooood.

I got more tunes in the makin so stay tuned....

Hokay, so...

Alrighty then. Time for another post. Got a lot more music art and skateboarding to hit u in the dome with so peep game if u down with that old school funkadellic type jibbajabba strait from duh hood type shit naddidiemean? Chea.

But really though. I do gots some thangs to write about. Upcoming artshows, a freelance skatepark design project, skateboard contests, some cool photos, an interview that I was apart of, a new song that I made and much more. Fiiiiirrrrst off, I got a lot more art to show so I guess I'll start off with that. Here's two rhinos that have found themselves next to a river during sunset.
This one was supposed to be a commission piece, but the buyer never got back to me sooooo if you think it might look good on your wall, CLICK BELOW!

Next up is the completion of my 2nd multi-board composition.

It's a Hermit with a Shotgun! Well, a hermit crab in a shotgun shell to be technically correct.
Ever since my first 3 parter of that sparrow I did a few months ago,  I've been diggin the multi-board compositions. After I finished this piece, I brought it down to Mind Unwind Art Gallery where some of my other work is displayed. Here I am with the owner of the gallery Krystall Kelly and J Conrad Nivens. I'm so happy that I have this opportunity to hang my work in a gallery!!!

LIKE 'EM.

Hanyways, I wanted to do another multi-board piece, so I sketched out an idea that I had involving another rhino. In the photo on the right, there's the last board I skated next to my current set-up. I'm super excited to see how this one turns out!!! I thought I'd need 3 boards, but its kinda lookin like I'll be usein 4 or maybe even 5. I guess we'll find out!

Soooo this thing on the right was for my brothers girl friend Emily, who just graduated college a week ago. He wanted me to dot something involving a meerkat and a ballet dancer because those are her two favorite things, so this is what i came up with. I was kickin my ass about the way it turned out but both Jonas and Emily were stoked so i guess its alright.

One thing that happened this august is I TURNED 24 YEARS OLD. Yikes. I can't even really believe it. I had this plan to fix up my miniramp in my backyard to have another ragin kegger like I did last year, but I couldn't raise enough money to repair it. I need 270 bucks to resurface the ramp, so right now it's kinda out of my price range. Even if it was only 40 bucks I couldn't afford it. So I had an Idea:

I thought that if I took all of the shitty Masonite off of my ramp, I could break it into small pieces and do art on them using mostly sharpies and stencils like these ones. If I made 27 of 'em and sold them for 10 bucks a pop, I could make enough doah to buy Masonite for a new top layer! I got about 15 now, and I plan on making a whoooole bunch more. It'll be dope! Also, just the other day I talked to a coffee shop owner in west seattle about having an art show at her shop, Hotwire, in west seattle. Shes stoked, Im stoked. It's happening either January or March. I can't wait!!! I'll keep everyone posted about it sooooo stay tuned?
A few months ago, I decided I would model the Mukilteo Skatepark with a roof over it because I thought it would be an awesome asset to a promotional fund-raising video to actually cover that amazing skatepark. I showed my boss the work in progress and she was hyped. She showed it to her boss, and I was called into their office to have a meeting about a project that I could help out with. They wanted me to model a potential indoor skatepark that they could put inside of the teencenter. This is how the first draft turned out.
this will be siiiiiiiiiiick.

ON THE SKATEBOARDING FRONT,

There was a contest at SeaSkate on the 11th of august that I blew it at. Iono what was wrong with me. I was havin fun and all, but I wasn't landing shit. Didn't even make it to finals. Oh well. That happens sometimes. I blame it on the stiff ass nikes that I was rockin that day. Anyways, I did get this fakie thruster on the vert wall higher than Ive ever done before so that was rad. Plus I ran into a lot of old friends of mine that I havnt seen in a while. It was a pretty good time.
A week later, I made up for not skating so well by Charlie Sheening the annual "Delridge Days" contest at delridge skatepark. I had sooo much fun! Thank you so much to everyone who came together to make this happen. It was RAD. Zach Profitt came through and took more amazing photos.

On the flipside of thaangs in the skateboarding realm, here's a video that my buddy did for his film class a little while ago. I just found out it's on vimeo!
SPECIAL NOTE: The only nomadic gear I've actually designed that has been already printed is the Skyline Deck graphic, and the wheels. I've put together most of the shirts, but  if youve seen the shirts youll see that all it is logo placement. Other than that, I've edited all of the videos (minus 2 that mark kirkland did) and designed the first website that they had. I just wanted to make it clear that I'm not trying to take credit for other peoples work, that's all. I just found out that I might be apart of the winter line comin' soon so heres a little teaser:
I actually dont know for sure if these will get printed either, but its a start. I guess well see. It's all really up to the owner of the company, Ike. I'll be sure to give a heads up if things work out the way they should :)
Ok, thats about it in the art and skateboarding side of things for now. At least thats all that comes to mind. Lastly, I got a new song. Check it if ya feel like it.

I was just foolin around on the keyboard till i found something worth pursuing. This is what it ended up sounding like.

Well thanks for checkin me out dude or dudedet. Thats all for now. Untill next timee......

Makin' Movement.

Aaaaaaaaand I'm back with more skateboarding, art, and music. Now that it's almost August, I figured I'd better squeeze in one more post before this month ends so I don't beat myself up for only having one entry for the entire month of July. I'm always tellin myself I gotta update this thing more frequently. I'm my own worst hater haha. Its truuuuue! It's good for me though. Kinda. Oh well. Anyways, This week I think I'll start out with some art that I've made, then move on to some skateboarding news and videos, then I'll end with what the latest symphony in my head sounds like. Allllllrightythen here we go....

July has been a hell of a month. My brother Jonas turned 25, yikes, and MY SISTERS HAVING A BABY IN NEW YORK!!! I'm so excited for her. She's having a girl any day now and is naming her Cici. So please, if your reading this right now, close your eyes right quick and send some positive vibes to my sister ABI STAR STEWART in NEWYORK CITY for her new journey into motherhood. Thank you kindly.

Sooooo another thing that happened in July was that I got back into Instagram. I downloaded it months ago, took 4 photos, and was over it. I felt like I didn't need another thing to update. I was busy enough as it is. Hanyways I just recently opened up the app to see I had 121 followers. HOLY SHIT!!! I was quite surprised. And hyped. So now I'm goin hard in the instapaint. My Insta-name is "Stillaquarterfull" if you wanna peek inside of my life.

Hokay, so, my co-worker Antheny, yes Antheny with an e, was talkin' to me about a tattoo he wanted me to draw up for him. He said he wanted to mix the space-needle with a tree and surround it with lightning bolts. He's been hookin it up with Taco Del Mar recently so I said aight. We brought up some google images and I drew up a sketch. Then he asked if I could dot the design on his board's griptape. I like a challenge, so again, I said aight.

This is how the sketch and the board came out. Took me so much longer than I thought. I kept taking it home to work on it, then bringing it back to work so he could skate it since he was volunteering at the skatecamp that I'm teaching at in Mukilteo. So the last time I  took it home with me to finish it, I went street skating to stack some clips for my homies video that he's makin. I snapped my board within an hour, then saw Antheny's board in my trunk. I thought to myself, "Aww, Antheny wont mind" so I started skating it. Next thing I know, we break in to an abandoned cement silo thingy, and I'm skating a pole-jam that I made off of a loading dock trying to blast ollie norths off the top of it when I land right on the tail of the board. Aw snap. You guessed right. I broke his shit into a million pieces. Ok maybe not a million. Just two. But still. The board a'int mine!!! Oh well. I hooked him up with an old deck of mine and he was happy. Got a preeeetttyyy steezy pole-jam tucknee out of the adventure so everything kinda worked out  :)

Speakin' of sketches, here's an idea that I had a while ago of a hermit crab in a shotgun shell. Ooooosh you could even make up some post-modernist meaning subjective to your life experiences and surrounding reality for some extra entertainment if ya wanted too haha.

Any Poli-Sci students wanna give it a shot?

What if I put a US flag on the shell and gave him dogtags? Oooo now were gettin somewhere...

Anyways, I thought it'd be cool to make this a 3 board piece that I could dot up, so I started. Here's the middle of the triptych.

Here's me 360 flippin over a rail on it at the Jefferson skatpark grand opening. Super fun. I won some shoes that day. And saw a backflip preformed by Andy Hopgood over the spine. It was sick.

I started working on the 2nd deck, and will probably be finished with the whole piece by my next blog post. Kinda see what I'm after? Tilt your head 45 degrees to the left that might help.

Last and certainly not least, I have my current board. This is what I'm currently lookin down at.
I made this on the way to RedBull Rivals in battleground Wa last Saturday on a new deck Steve G gave me that I desperately needed. Thought that dottin a bull would be the most appropriate. The contest was SOOOOO SICK. It was Washington vs. Oregon to raise some doah for Marginal or Burnside. Washington won so Marginal Way got the money. I can't wait to see the edit. I ate shit a few times real real hard and I wanna see if they were bad enough slams to make the edit.
More photos that this ^ bald dood
took coming soon...

SO THE VERY NEXT DAY....
SUBWAY GAMES AT THE MUKILTEO SKATEPARK (my work)
I made this flyer...Just so ya know haha.
The dude doin the benihanna is Blake Bartelli and actually ended up winning his division!!!
Well deserved. He's a Muk Local and Killllllls it. A lot of people showed up and had a wonderful time. There was free hotdogs and corn on the cob thanks to psycho mike. I was there just to help out and judge the contest, but I ended up skatin around for a bit too. It was a really great time! One of the skatedads named Zach shot some amazing photos check em out!!!

Even though the redbull rivals comp had me beat up, sore, and sunburn, I mustered enough energy to throw a front tailside on this quarterpipe for Zach to snap a flick. If you look closely at my board you can see the bull I dotted the day before. Zack if you ever read this thanks again for shootin so well. You definitely know whatchurdoin. uberdope.

ALSO in the skateboarding realm, I finally put together a little edit with some clips my buddy paul shot in an abandoned bank last fall. SO FUN.
Yes this was in an actual bank. Yes it has pool coping. Yes it was one of the most fun ramps evereverever.
Took me forever to edit. I did it to Prefuse 73 so it was beggin for glitches. Now that was a learning experience.
_________________________________________________________

Last and certainly not least, I made a new jam. This last one was hella hard to finish cause I needed it to be just as good or better than the last one I put out. Soooo it took some time but here it is:

_____________________________________________________________

Weeeeelp, that's about it for now. There's much more on the horizon that I can't wait to share, but untill then, thanks for tuning in, and have a wonderful day!!!!
